Little Lara had been introduced to betrayal at a tender age. Her birthday gift was the one to be blamed. Oh how much she had loved her pet parrot! But to her dismay, he had escaped his cage to fly against the wind. Mithu, as she called him, had been missing for about a week now. Lara's Nana and Nani tried convincing her out of it, but every morning she would wake up with red swollen eyes. Finally, Nana told her that he would buy her a new bird from the pet store. Lara couldn't stop smiling the entire day. With Nana's hand in one hand and Nani's in the other, she merrily skipped all the way to the store. When she entered this humongous store, her jaw dropped till it touched the floor. Never had she seen such a vivid expression of colours in one place. The birds were painted red, blue, pink, green and several other colours she could not pronounce. Overjoyed, she pulled her hands out of her grandparents' hands and danced like she had never before. Her shoes lit up with every tap of her tiny feet! As she was tralalalaing, she crashed into a tall lady with a welcoming smile."How can I help you?" asked the attendant without wiping that big smile. "I want a pet, please!" exclaimed Lara as she hugged the lady's knees. "And what kind of a pet would that be?" giggled the attendant. "I would like a bird that cannot fly," was the reply.
